Setting up your first device

IMEI stands for “International Mobile Equipment Identity.” It’s a unique number for identifying a device on a mobile network. All GPS devices sold by Halo Trak have an IMEI as it uses the cellular network to triangulate it's position and report it. The IMEI is required to assign the device to your account.

Passcodes are used to ensure you have physical access to the device you are activating or using. This ensures only you can activate and use your device on the Halo Trak app

Make sure the device is charged enough to power on. If after properly charging the device and holding the button for 5 seconds, the green light does not flash, contact support.

If you Halo Trak is not recognizing the device, ensure the device is in an area with cellular coverage and there are no obstructions (e.g. not in a parking garage or other structure that would limit cell coverage).

The Halo Trak app requires at least one device to function. If you have no device, we cannot provide any location based services.

If your device is not reporting in but has in the past, ensure that your device:
- Is charged and has power.
- Installed on your possession in a way that will not affect it's reporting
- Is not obstructed in a way that will prevent it form accessing a cellular network (e.g. in an underground parking garage, etc)

The HaloMini is rated for IP67, with a rugged dust and waterproof enclosure. IP67-rated enclosures can withstand water hoses, jet sprays, and momentary water immersion.

Disassembly can compromise the device's IP rating and potentially void your warranty. There is no serviceable parts inside the device so we do strongly recommend tampering with the device.

Halo Trak's warranty provides 1 year of coverage for manufacturing defects with the device only. It does not cover any damages from transportation, storage, improper use, modifications, unauthorized repair, normal wear and tear, combination or use with any products, materials, processes, systems or other matter not provided or authorized in writing by Halo Trak or external causes such as accidents, abuse, or other actions or events beyond our reasonable control.
